The annual report ‘Natural Resources and Geothermal Energy in the Netherlands’ reports on the activities and results of the exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons, rock salt, and geothermal energy in the Netherlands. Additionally, it addresses the status and future of underground storage of substances for temporary storage (natural gas, crude oil, and nitrogen) and permanent storage (salt water and CO2). Thus, all exploration, extraction, and storage activities in the Netherlands on land and the Dutch part of the sea, which fall under the Mining Act, are jointly reported.
