The Model Chain Groningen is a software tool. To carry out the public SDRA (Seismic Hazard and Risk Analysis) Groningen, TNO has implemented the Model Chain Groningen independently of NAM for application in the public domain. This enables the possible consequences of gas production to be calculated for different production scenarios. Both the hazard and risk analysis use probabilistic methods in which the uncertainties related to limited knowledge and imperfections in both measurement data and models are taken into account.
The TNO source code of the Groningen Model Chain for calculating the SDRA has been published under an open source EUPL licence. The source codes of the various models and a manual can be downloaded via the links below. The following models and components are available:
